Sermon Finder is a free index of sermons. You can use all of its search and listening features without an account, and we collect as little as the site needs to work.

If you use the site without an account

Nothing about you is stored on our servers. A few conveniences live only in your browser's local storage on your device: playback and reading positions (so a sermon resumes where you left off), and your light/dark mode choice. Clearing your browser's site data removes them.

If you create an account

We store, in our database:

  • your email address and password (the password only as a secure hash);
  • the display name and portrait you choose, if any;
  • your library: favorites, bookmarks, completed sermons, and notes;
  • your in-text annotations on public-domain sermon texts;
  • your resume positions (which sermon, how far in, and when), so listening and reading pick up where you left off across your devices. Only the most recent couple hundred are kept, finishing or restarting a sermon removes its entry, and they are deleted with your account.

Account emails (such as confirmations and password resets) go only to the address you registered. We never send marketing email.

What we don't do

  • No advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
  • We never sell or share your data with anyone.
  • We don't track you across other sites.

Where things run

The site is hosted on Vercel, and accounts and data live in a Supabase-managed Postgres database. Like nearly every web host, these services keep standard, short-lived request logs (such as IP addresses) to operate the infrastructure. Sermon audio and video stream directly from each ministry's own servers — nothing is rehosted here — so pressing play sends an ordinary media request to that ministry, exactly as if you visited their site.

Deleting your account

On your account page, "Delete your account" permanently removes your account and everything attached to it — profile, library, notes, and annotations — from our database, immediately. There is no retention period and no backup copy we keep of deleted accounts.
